The Teach

I have been teaching 8th grade RELA in the same classroom since Salisbury Middle School opened. This year begins a new adventure teaching 7th grade RELA in a new room! After all of these years, I’m still loving SMS and the students who cruise through my door. I’ve spent the last few years trying to integrate as much tech into my lessons as possible in order to keep things fun. I’m still learning about the technology and am working through this blog thing at a (sometimes) snail’s pace. I’m hoping that my students will bring some creativeness to the classroom AND THIS BLOG!

When I’m out of the school world things are a bit different for me. I live at the beach with my husband, my son (sometimes referred to as Monkey), my cat, and my dog. Sometimes it’s a zoo, but we have a lot of fun. If it’s warm out, I’m at the beach with my family…dreaming of days when I used to be able to surf. I’m working on paddling back out, but I’ve lost some skill. If there is snow anywhere, I’m on the mountain ripping it up on my Burton snowboard with my family. Flying down the mountain is my favorite way to spend a cold day! I’ve boarded everywhere from the East coast to Whistler in Canada. I’ve even spent some time in Zermatt, Switzerland. That was CRAZY! I’ve recently started skateboarding again…something I haven’t done since I was a teenager. You won’t see me at the skate park. I’m riding a long board and trying to not hurt myself. Pavement hurts and roadrash is a bummer! You’ll also notice that I can’t do anything without a cup of coffee.

I have been reading a ton of books. Sometimes I find that I haven’t moved for hours. Hopefully I will be able to recommend a few interesting things for you to read. Maybe you can share a few fabulous picks with me.
